Almenland Nature Park
Pleasure has many sides
The Almenland around Teichalm and Sommeralm impresses with its cultivated and well-tended mountain pastures. The grassland-dominated cultural landscape with rock faces and gorges characterise the landscape types of this nature park.
Nature...
...as far as the eye can see
Embedded in gentle hills and lush green meadows, the Almenland Nature Park offers a very special attraction at any time of year. Around the Teichalmsee lake, you can experience pure nature on numerous hiking trails and unwind. Where the ALMO® ox grazes, there is a unique wealth of native orchids. Alpine pastures, forests, gorges and ravines are true natural jewels in Styria’s youngest nature park. Europe’s largest contiguous alpine pasture area is dedicated to preserving this ancient cultural landscape.

Your round trip...
through the Almenland
Via Passail, you reach Arzberg to the famous silver show mine. Here, dressed in a protective coat and headgear, visitors can learn about the working world of the miners on a 550 metre long path through the mine. The local history museum brings the working and living environment of our ancestors to life.
Cheese experience in the Arzberg gallery: The cheese is an unadulterated, award-winning natural product and matures in the gallery of the former Arzberg silver mine. The cheeses are stored 100 metres deep in the mountain, embedded in millions of years old rock. You can learn all about Almenland Stollenkäse in this extraordinary setting. The exquisite cheeses are then tasted in the cosy mine house.
At Imkerei Kreiner, you can find out all there is to know about the busy bee colonies and taste the homemade products. Have you ever tried cinnamon honey?

Teichalmsee, Moorlerpfad, Sommeralm
With the Sommeralm and Teichalm, the Almenland is the largest managed alpine pasture area in Europe. Take a leisurely hike around the Teichalmsee lake and breathe in the particularly good, oxygen-rich air. Discover the 900 metre long moorland hiking trail, which you can hike through comfortably on well-surfaced wooden paths.
The alpine farmers serve genuine alpine specialities, such as ALMO alpine ox meat, in their typical rustic parlours.
On the Sommeralm you can hike to the summit of the Plankogel, which offers you a wide view over valleys and hills in good weather.
